Two 19 th -century stone houses on a hill overlooking the valley are the origin of our small, luxury hotel. Carefully restored respecting the original, it was finished in 2004 and has the finest panoramic views of the valley and a view over the famous Palma Bay from its rooms, terraces, lounges and dining room.
The estate, with 70,000 m2 of traditionally cultivated olive and orange groves, is a haven of peace and quiet where you can wander around and enjoy the rural atmosphere, close to the Sierra de Tramuntana and the Teix and Fátima mountains. The property belonged to the former estate of the Carthusian Monastery of Valldemossa where Frederic Chopin and George Sand stayed and spent time walking around.
The hotel has some very special characteristics: it moves away from the commercial concept and is more of a home for welcoming friends and accommodating them as if they were staying in their own country house. We have to confess that we do not consider ourselves as hoteliers, but rather hosts. You will discover that the concept of client for us has been substituted by that of guest. You will also see that, whether in reception, the dining room, the bar, the lounges or any other service, you will find yourself among friends who will make you feel as if you are staying at home instead of in a hotel, surrounded by scenery made famous throughout the world by the Polish musician and the French writer who wrote her most famous book" A Winter in Mallorca" after spending the winter there.
The Relais & Chateaux Chain, of French origin and inspiration, which the Valldemossa Hotel restaurant is belong, was created in 1954 with the idea of restoring and transform palaces or stately homes into high-category hotels, which explains their fidelity to the 5 Cs: Courtesy, Charm, Character, Calmness and Cuisine. The spirit of the first proprietors of these houses is rather curious, they became hoteliers as a result of their expertise in welcoming and receiving, which is our establishment´s motto: we do not receive clients, but guests, because we consider ourselves to be hosts rather than hoteliers. Today the chain groups together 450 establishments in 50 countries spread over the five continents, proving the selectiveness that reigns in the spirit and soul of R&CH. Now, our Valldemossa Hotel Restaurant is one of them.
So, we are not inviting you to come to our hotel but rather to your home.
We are no hoteliers, we are hosts
